Multi-use buildings combines residential, commercial, cultural, institutional or industrial uses; these different types of uses and functions are physically and functionally integrated. Multi-use developments can take the form of a single building, a city block or neighborhoods. 

These developments create many benefits towards housing variety and density, reduced distances between housing and retail / work space, stronger sense of place and it increases accessibility. These projects main aim is to allow the spectators to interact with a building as a harmonic integral space. It also allows the spectators to form a sense of community within a building.
